You can add them to any dish, regardless of whether it is to add a bit color or replace unhealthy fats. In this article we will show you how to grow your own avocado plant. Just follow our instructions, and remember, you do not need a garden to do this.

1.Sprout the pit

Pierce the pit using 4 toothpicks, and make sure they are separated equally, as they are going to hold the pit over a glass of water.

Place the pit over a glass of water, and make sure it is halfway soaked in the water. This would be about an inch.

Leave the seed soaked like this for 2-6 weeks. Keep it in a warm place, and make sure it is not exposed to direct sunlight.

You will notice a stem and a root coming out of the pit. Once the stem will grow about 6 inches long, clip off about 3 inches. The roots and the leaves should grow thicker.

Get a 10-inch pot, and fill it with nutrient-rich soil. Make a small hole in the center, and plant the pit. Make sure the roots are in the soil, and only half of the pit sticks out. Terra-cotta pots with a hole in the center provide an excellent drainage.

Water the seed regularly, but do not overdo it. The soil should be moist all the time. If the leaves turn yellow and droop, do not water the soil, and let it dry for a while. Once it dries well, add just a small amount of water.

If the leaves turn brown, your avocado does not get enough water. If this is your case, place the pot in the sink, and let the water run through it for a while, so the plant is completely drained.

3.Enjoy your avocados!

Well done! Water your avocado regularly, and you will see some new fruits coming out, but this will take a bit longer.
